Course Description: Integrated III involves both higher level Algebra and Trigonometry with the goal to prepare students for the challenge of advanced mathematics courses. This course continues the study of topics from Algebra and Geometry in a problem-centered, connected approach. The students will expand their knowledge of functions, Trigonometry and experiences with data as they solve sophisticated real world problems. Technology will be used to incorporated and expand some of the topics of study. In addition, the students will work in a cooperative effort with other students while solving problems. They will demonstrate proficiency with a graphing calculator and complete projects that will support literacy.

All the California Content Standards will be covered and may be viewed online at the California Department of Education web site (www.cde.ca.gov/be/st/ss).

Prerequisites: Integrated Math II, or Algebra and Geometry, with a grade of C or higher.

Student Fees: The Constitution of the State of California requires that we provide a public education to you free of charge. Your right to a free education is for all school/educational activities, whether curricular or extracurricular, and whether you get a grade for the activity or class. Subject to certain exceptions, your right to a free public education means that we cannot require you or your family to purchase materials, supplies, equipment or uniforms for any school activity, nor can we require you or your family to pay security deposits for access, participation, materials, or equipment.

Under certain circumstances, students involved in extracurricular programs, clubs and/or sports may be required to attend fundraising events held by the program, sport or club just as you may be required to attend any other event put on by that program, club or sport. However, you will not be required to raise funds as a condition of participation. Academic Honesty Policy: All students are expected to abide by the Mira Mesa High School Academic Honesty Policy which is clearly outlined in the Student & Parent Handbook as well as posted online with school registration forms for students and parents to review.

Class Rules and Consequences: Students must be prepared for class daily and follow all posted rules. Phones and other personal electronics, as well as food and drinks, are not allowed at any time. Violators of class rules will be assigned detention and may be referred to counseling and Saturday school.

Academic Grading Policy: Exams, quizzes, and the final will comprise 70% of each semester grade. The other 30% will be for all other work, including homework and projects. A=90-100%, B=80-90%, C=70-80%, D=60-70%, F=0-60%

Make-up/Late Policy: In general, late work is not allowed. Extenuating circumstances might allow a larger project to be submitted late, but only if the student informs the instructor in a timely manner.

Page 1 of 5 Support Policy: Tutoring is available Tuesdays and Thursdays at lunch. Students are strongly encouraged to take advantage of the many electronic tutoring opportunities that the instructor will highlight in class.

Online Grade Access: Available online through Powerschool. Grades are updated every 2-3 weeks, and grade reports will be available every 6 weeks.
