MEETING MINUTES
A meeting of the Sarpy County Visitor’s Committee was convened in an open and public session in the County Boardroom at the Sarpy County Courthouse on November 19, 2015.
Notice of the meeting was given in advance thereto by publication in the Suburban Newspapers on November 11, 2015; proof of publication is on file at the County Tourism Office. Notice of the meeting was simultaneously given to all members of the Sarpy County Visitors Committee. All proceedings were taken while the convened meeting was open to the public.
PRESENT: Michelle Alexander, Margaret White, Bob Hill, Jr., Dave Compton, Steve Hilton, Mark Wayne, Don Kelly, and Linda Revis.
ABSENT: Kyle Fisher and Jan Vala
The meeting was called to order. Minutes of the September meeting were approved on a motion by Bill Hill, Jr., seconded by Steve Hilton. Motion carried.
The financials were reviewed and discussed. Linda noted that a stadium bond payment had been taken from the Improvement Fund. Motion to accept as printed was made by Margaret White, seconded by Michelle Alexander. Motion carried.
Director’s Report. Linda passed around what is going to be the cover for the 2016 Visitor Guide. She reported that 8 bus tours have been completed, 2 have cancelled, and 3 more are scheduled for yet this year. We have assisted with 3 conventions in October/Novemer.
Linda passed around a sports involvement sheet that shows what Alex is working on (the State High School Baseball Tournament was not included in the listings).
The 2016 Chevy Equinox for the Tourism Department has been ordered.
Linda received a request from Embassy Suites to change the years for a Nebraska Association of School Board Transportation Grant previously approved from 2016 – 2020 to 2015 to 2019. Request granted to change the dates on a motion by Margaret White, seconded by Michelle Alexander. Motion carried.
New Business: Linda shared information on a request from Larry Burks from the City of Bellevue to include Sarpy County as a potential partner in the Bellevue Bike Share grant. No details as to dollar amount is available. After visiting with Mark Wayne, Linda said we could be listed as a potential partner. Margaret White’s term on the Visitor Committee will expire on 12/31/15. The Committee is recommending Margaret’s name be brought before the Commissioners for another four year term.
Our next regularly scheduled meeting with be on December 17, 2015 at 2:00pm in the Administrative Conference room.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
