Background on Each Conference

AIAA Strategic and Tactical Missile Systems Conference (STRAT-TAC)  SECRET/U.S. ONLY  2-day event held in January of the even-numbered years  Naval Postgraduate School is used for conference sessions and luncheons  Hyatt Regency Monterey is used for hotel accommodations and receptions  Supported by Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology & Logistics  Organized by program (steering committee) made up of representatives from OSD and industry Aerojet, ATK, Boeing, Cobham Analytic Solutions, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon)  Corporate support from industry includes program support, all security, financial support (rotation among companies represented on the program committee) 2000 – Lockheed Martin 2002 – Raytheon 2004 – Boeing 2006 – Northrop Grumman 2008 – Lockheed Martin 2010 – ATK 2012 – Raytheon  Program focuses on missile systems policy and programs (i.e., national defense priorities, threat, budget and acquisition, R&D, user and provider perspectives  Speakers are senior DoD, Army, Navy, Air Force, Congressional staff, and other government  Chairs are Mr. David G. The Co-Located Event

 SECRET/U.S. ONLY  3-day conference held the week of 23 January 2012 (refer to Draft Program Overview)  Naval Postgraduate School is used for conference sessions and luncheons  Hyatt Regency Monterey is used for hotel accommodations and receptions o Meeting space is on hold at NPS for co-located event; Hyatt contract is due to be signed at end of March  Supported by Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology & Logistics  Organized by program committee (STRAT-TAC sessions) and Missile Systems TC (MSC sessions)  Corporate support from industry includes program support, all security, financial support o Should (2) corporate supporters be used, recommend that one handles the security clearance, badging, and onsite security; the other can handle the management of technical papers and presentations and secured A/V  Program covers missile systems policy, programs, and technology  Chairs are Mr. David G. Ahern (Director, Portfolio Systems, OUSD/AT&L), executive from corporate supporter, program chair from STRAT-TAC program committee from same corporate supporter, and technical chair from MSC from Missile Systems TC (from same corporate supporter?) o Should (2) corporate supporters be used, add another executive from second company  Combined planning committee meets (telecom) approx. (3) times: kick-off, mid-planning, pre- conference  Conference program is single track in morning (plenary style) for STRAT-TAC speakers and (4) concurrent technical break-outs in afternoon for MSC sessions  Call for Papers provides introduction for the co-located event and solicits abstracts for the MSC sessions  Marketing materials promote both conferences, as well as the benefits of the combined event  Networking events include (3) luncheons, (2) receptions, continental breakfasts, coffee breaks  Speakers’ Briefing breakfast at the hotel on both mornings (covering both conferences)  VIP dinner held at the Monterey Bay Aquarium the night before the conference for chairs, speakers, program committee, and guests (covering both conferences)  Security elements include security plan, security clearance forms and badges, onsite security, A/V, and management/handling of classified technical papers and speaker presentations  Projected Attendance: 500 full paid, 550 total (incl. NPS faculty/students, high-level speakers, comps)  Projected Paper Presentations: 96 (adding sessions on Monday or Friday can be discussed)
