Behind the 24 company’s successful safety record is its slogan, “Build it the right 25 way. Everything else will follow.” This spirit extends to every 26 aspect of the business, including safety; and 27 28 Whereas, established in 1986 by Mark Hood, Hood Construction is 29 a general contractor serving the Carolinas. The company has 30 garnered an enviable list of major projects and renovations, among 31 them Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, SCANA Joint 32 Information Center, Gold’s Gym (Forest Acres), Barks Hall at 33 Hammond School, Church of the Apostles, and South Carolina 34 Veterinary Radiation Oncology, all in Columbia, as well as 35 SCE&G Gas Operations in North Charleston. In addition, its 36 historic renovations include 701 Whaley Street, 1218 Pulaski 37 Street, 1010 Gervais Street, the Palmetto Club, and Trinity 38 Episcopal Cathedral; and 39 40 Whereas, for its efforts, Hood Construction has been honored with 41 a Historic Columbia Preservation Award and Historic Columbia 42 Adaptive Reuse Award; the Carolina AGC Presidential Award for

[4715] 2 1 Outstanding Safety Performance; Associated General Contractors 2 of America Certificate of Commendation for Excellent Safety 3 Record; South Carolina Chamber of Commerce Commendation for 4 Excellence, Safety Program Recognition; and American Institute 5 of Architects Greater Columbia Excellence Award; and 6 7 Whereas, grateful for the company’s consistent commitment to the 8 safety of its workers over a quarter century of operations, the 9 General Assembly takes great pleasure in recognizing Hood 10 Construction Company on its celebration of reaching one million 11 man hours without a workloss accident. Now, therefore, 12 13 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate 14 concurring: 15 16 That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this 17 resolution, recognize and commend Hood Construction Company 18 Incorporated of Columbia for its outstanding safety record of one 19 million man hours without a workloss accident. 20 21 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to 22 Hood Construction Company Incorporated. 23 XX 24
