The Glory Field Unit Test Monday, March 3

The test will have two parts. Part 1 is objective and will be completed on a scantron card. You cannot use notes or your book on this portion of the test.

Part II is subjective and will be essay questions. Each essay must include a thesis statement in an introductory paragraph, a body paragraph, and a concluding paragraph. You may use notes, but not your book, for the essay portion of the test.

Be aware of time as you take the test; you need to complete the entire test in one class period. The Glory Field Review Themes to study and discuss

Freedom (in each chapter): What is it and what sacrifices do the characters make for it? Use examples from the Lewis family.

Family (in each chapter): Who is family and how do they support and guide you? If you are family, how do you behave? Use examples from the Lewis family.

Family (in each chapter): Why do you need to know where you come from? Why do you need to know about your family history? Use examples from the Lewis family.

Education and achievement (in each chapter): How do characters pursue their dreams when others try to stop them? Be specific and use examples from the Lewis family.

Culture: How did the culture develop in the Sea Islands (such as Curry) of South Carolina? Describe skills, work, crafts, music, religion, burial customs, and art.

Land: The family land in Curry is important. Why? How do different Lewis family members over the generations use and develop the land? Be specific.

Discuss civil rights and how the civil rights movement changes life for the Lewis family.
