Standards

Student Nominations

Students can only be inducted into the Weslaco High School National Technical Honor Society by nomination from a Career & Technology (CTE) teacher. The student will need to obtain an additional recommendation from another member of the faculty. The requirements for membership are listed below.

Career Technical Education (CTE) Requirements

 Students must have taken at least one CTE course and will graduate with two or more CTE classes.  Students must be an active member of a Career Technical Service Organization (CTSO), BPA, DECA, FCCLA, FFA, HOSA or Skills USA.  Students must attend of have previously attended a Leadership Conference within their CTSO and or must participate in competition within their CTSO for the current school year.

Academic and Non-Academic Requirements

 NTHS members must maintain an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.  NTHS members must maintain a CTE GPA of 3.3 or higher on a 4.0 scale.  The student cannot have any current discipline & attendance problems.  A student must be currently classified as a junior or senior.

Graduation Honor Requirements

 Members must attend 50% of general meetings and remain in “good” academic standing for entire school year.

Meeting Times and Dues

 2nd Tuesday or Thursday of every month in room E-12 from 3:50-4:15 PM (subject to change)  $25 Induction Fee and $5 Annual Membership ($30 total fee upon acceptance)  Applications turned in after the deadline will not be accepted.  **Additional money may be required for graduation cords, medal, or stole.
