The Chemicals of Life Chapter 1.2
Organic chemicals are compounds that were traditionally believed to be produced solely by living organisms. While we have been able to mimic or reproduce many of these compounds in a lab setting, organic compounds tend to be composed of three main elements; Carbon, Hydrogen and Oxygen; with small clusters, or functional grouping, that may contain Sulfur, Nitrogen, phosphorus etc.
Explain why carbon is so important to the make-up of organic compounds, or hydrocarbons.

Macromolecules are large biological compounds important to life. Many of these molecules are composed of repeating subunits or monomers.
