Leadership and Teaching Experience: Logistics Coordinator, August 2011 – present. Fort Lewis College Adventure Education program, Durango, CO 81301. Responsibilities include preparing trip-related administrative paperwork, assisting with the development of policies and procedures and preparation of documents for accreditation, assisting with instruction and risk management of Challenge Course Programming course, managing and overseeing the maintenance, purchase and research of equipment and food supply, and working with faculty and staff to determine and reserve vehicle needs.

Responsibilities include instructing field-based portions for The Immersion Semester, Wilderness Expedition, Adventure Leadership and Teaching Methods for Adventure Educators; teaching and assessing students in backcountry travel, leadership methods and experiential instructional strategies; instructing backpacking and canoeing.

Instructing teens on multi-week expeditions consisting of canoeing and rafting on the San Juan River in UT, service learning on Navajo Nation in NM and AZ, backpacking in the San Juan National Forest and the Weminuche Wilderness. Responsibilities included activity specific risk management, instruction in canoe skills, hydrology and river hazards, campsite selection, weather, flora and fauna specific to the desert and mountains, transference of wilderness experience into everyday living.
Rock Climbing Guide, May – present. San Juan Mountain Guide, Durango, CO 81301. Guided groups of one to four people rock climbing, with one-on-one instruction. Responsibilities include preparing all equipment, facilitation of rock climbing techniques, site management, climbing safety, belay/ command school, mock leading and rappelling.
Colorado White Water Guide, June-August 2011. Outlaw Outdoor Adventures, Durango, CO 81301. Responsibilities included river safety speeches, rigging boats, scouting rapids, guiding both oar and paddle rafts through Class I-III+ whitewater.
Adventure Program Instructor, June 2010. Boojum Institute of Experiential Education, Anza, CA 92539. Instructed teens in a leadership development workshop, with a focus on the intrapersonal and interpersonal qualities of a leader. Responsibilities included facilitation of initiatives, low and high challenge course elements.
Backpacking Field Instructor, May 2010. New Hampton School, New Hampton, NH 03256. Responsibilities included community building and fostering a cooperative learning environment, student preparation of expectations and equipment, teaching backpack packing, proper lifting and fitting of packs, foot care, backcountry kitchen safety, cooking, bear hangs and disposal of human waste.
Student Outdoor Adventure Recreation (SOAR) Program Coordinator, September 2009 - May 2010. Plymouth State University Outdoor Center, Plymouth, NH 03264. Logistical manager of all student-led trips. Responsibilities included student leadership development and training, creation and improvement of logistics procedures and policies, trip planning, participant registration and volunteer recruitment.
Intern in Experiential Learning, February_May 2010. New Hampton School, New Hampton, NH 03256. Responsibilities included preparing the school for an Accreditation from the Association for Experiential Education via internal review of AEE standards; logistical preparations and instructor for the Sophomore Expedition including gear repair and maintenance, restocking first aid kits, reviewing student medical screening and leadership development workshops with student leaders; video documentation and chaperone of Junior Urban Adventure; assisted the Director of Experiential Learning.
Wilderness Trip Leader, June-August 2009. Camp Winnebago, 19 Echo Lake Road, Fayette, ME 04349. Led four and five-day weekly expeditions in Northern Maine involving hiking, canoeing, and white water kayaking. Responsibilities included trip planning, scouting, and teaching LNT ethics and fundamental skills of each activity.
