Lesson Title: Station Activity for Night by Elie Wiesel and Poetic Devices

Grade Level/Subject Area: 10th Grade/Literature

Student Profile: Number of Students: 20 Number of Students with Special Needs: 0 Duration: 90 minutes Objective: Purpose of the lesson This lesson will review the poetry terms covered throughout the week and wrap up the reading of the book Night by Elie Wiesel. Understanding and practicing the use of poetic devices will increase student reading comprehension and help them to develop critical thinking skills. Anticipatory Set: “Do Now” During the “Do Now” activity students will write down their thoughts on the book Night by Elie Wiesel. What parts of the book had the biggest impact on them? Students will have 5 minutes to complete the “Do Now” activity and then we will discuss their answers. At the 5 minute mark, the teacher will instruct the students to return to their seats and clean up.
