As part of this project we will be showing extracts from the film ‘Blood Diamond’, which is a certificate 12. If you do not wish for your child to watch any part of this film please contact me on [email protected] so that alternative arrangements can be made. Many thanks, Miss Boughey Neasden Temple trip Year 8 students had a fantastic day out at Neasden Temple bringing their learning of Hinduism to life. They were lucky enough to see the beautiful design of the temple, watch Hindus pray and see statues of the different gods and goddesses. Luckily the rain held off and we were able to have lunch in the nearby park before heading back to school. The year 8’s behaviour was extremely impressive and we would like to congratulate them on being excellent representatives of Turnford School. Miss Blank Y9 end of KS3 celebration Due to a lack of response for the end of KS3 celebration to Delta Force paintballing it will now be cancelled. All those who have already paid will receive a full refund and an alternative will be offered to those who wanted to go. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Those Y9 students wanting to go to Thorpe Park need to return their forms by Wednesday 15th May. The behaviour amnesty will still apply for the Thorpe Park trip. Thank you and apologies for those students who were looking forward to going. Mrs Ledster and Mr Davidson BA 1 Improve the attendance to school Please be aware we are sitting at the national average. Please support us by ensuring your child is attending school regularly. BA2 Ensure all vulnerable groups are making expected progress The SEN department is moving home and will be located in what is now the library. Please bear with us during the move. If you have any concerns about your child’s learning please contact our SENCO on: [email protected] Measles outbreak We have been asked by County to highlight to parents of 10-16 year olds the need for their children to be vaccinated and for parents of children under 10 to check with their GP that their children have had two doses of MMR. School nurses in Hertfordshire are not commissioned to chase vaccinations due to the fact that this area is above the 80% target expected for good herd immunity in a community. However, they encourage the small number who are not immunised to seek advice because of the risk travelling to other areas or infected people coming here. They reiterate County advice to go to your GP to check immunisation and that two doses of MMR have been given. Dates Saturday 11th May Royal Albert Hall Dance Performance 27th-31st May half term 19th July end of term.
