My Fellow Rotarians,

It seems that our April showers have extended themselves into May. With all the recent rain, it appears that a Magnolia tree in my yard has decided to bloom again after being injured in IKE, much to the delight of my mother!

April was an excellent month as we heard from the students on their drug and 4 way test essays. WOW! The students were awesome. It is truly something to get in the mind of a junior high student and see the awareness these special students bring to the community! And, to get up in front of a group such as ours and make a presentation - that they did with flying colors. Congratulations to all the winners!

We have some special events coming in May that I know you will all want to see. We are having our Brunson Award winners announced in an upcoming meeting, and it is a chance to see the brightest and most innovative educators that our school district has to offer. Also, we will be presenting the TOP 2 students from each High School and our scholarship winners. The hard work that all our members committed to our fund raiser last year has allowed our club to give the highest total amount of scholarships and dollars than ever before in the club’s history! Congratulations to all.

I want to remind everyone to keep all our brave young men and women who serve our armed forces all over the world in our thoughts and prayers. I wish everyone a happy and safe Memorial Day Holiday.
