Purpose

To address the unique language and literacy needs of the growing number of English learners entering the District at the Entering and Emerging levels of language proficiency in English. Specifically, provide an intelligent, personalized, and adaptive English language development software program, aligned to the CCSS, for K-12 that delivers performance data and analysis that can be utilized to drive instruction.

Departmental Goals ● Provide the growing number of English learners, who arrive with limited to no English, with access to a rigorous, personalized language learning program that is aligned to the CCSS and develops English proficiency.

● Provide schools with additional supports that they need to improve language and literacy development of their English learners.

● Provide schools with actionable data to improve instruction for English learners.

Description

● Onsite technical support, as needed, to support the implementation of the software;

● A rigorous reading curriculum, aligned with Common Core State Standards that continuously adapts based on the individual language development needs of each student;

● Capacity to provide high-quality ongoing progress monitoring by student, class and school;

● Capacity to provide parents with progress reports in multiple high and low incidence languages; and

● Ongoing daily product technology support to sustain technology integration at identified schools.

Impact and Monitoring

● Access to real-time, actionable data to enhance and improve instruction for individual and small groups of students.

● Monthly district level reports on all activities, usage and student progress;

● Annual report on all activities and a data summary identifying success and challenges.

Additional Notes

● The renewal continues our available licenses to support ELs entering the district with limited or no English language proficiency. This is needed to support the language development needs of the significant number of ELs entering the district last year and even more students entering the district this school year. ● The licenses are 8 month subscriptions.

● Licenses are not awarded to schools in bundles. Licenses are owned by the Office of ELLs and are assigned to students based on individual need.

● This contract covers a renewal of licenses for the following schools: Carl Lauro, Anthony Carnevale, Broad Street, Asa Messer, Mary Fogarty, Harry Kizarian, George J. West, Reservoir, Vartan Gregorian, Kennedy, Greene, Stuart, DelSesto, West Broadway, Roger Williams, Hopkins, Alvarez, E-Cubed, Hope, Central, Mt. Pleasant and JSEC.
