 Consider community service

January

 Register for the March SAT. It is recommended that you take the SAT twice during the spring of your junior year.

 Consider registering for the ACT. Actstudent.org

February

 Register for AP exams given in May

 Register for SAT subject tests if desired, while subject material is fresh in your mind.

March

 Register for the May and/or June SAT. Make this your second SAT attempt. Practice the SAT. Try a full-length practice test at sat.collegeboard.com

 Set up your big future account with the college board at www.bigfuture.collegeboard.org

April  Meet with your school counselor to ensure that you have scheduled appropriate courses for 12th grade and that you will meet all graduation requirements.

 Plan visits to college campuses that interest you. It is best to visit a college campus when school is in session so you get the “full effect” of the campus.

 Summer jobs and volunteer work – build your resume.
