Temperance Elementary School Third Grade Mrs. Stinnett [email protected] 946-2811 January 27, 2017 Dear Parents, This week we have been working on math SOL 3.20. Students have investigated the identity and the commutative properties for addition and multiplication. They should be able to share with you that the identity property for addition in adding 0 and the identity property for multiplication is x1. The commutative property states that the order of the factors or the addends can move but the product or sum is still the same. 3x4=4x3 During reading time, students continue to read biographies. Students are reading about either Rosa Parks, Abraham Lincoln, Helen Keller, or Cesar Chavez at this time. During our English block, students continue to learn about roots, prefixes, and suffixes. . Students have been learning about life cycles in science (SOL 3.8b). Students have been learning about frog and butterfly life cycles. Everyone did a great job on their life cycle models.
