TAG DAY for the Heritage Music Dept. Sept 6, 2014

What is it? Tag Day is a door to door request for contributions to support the Heritage Music Program and is the MAJOR fundraiser. Students, in groups with a chaperone-driver, go house to house in neighborhoods which feed into Heritage High School and ask for tax-deductible donations. In days past, the local bands would parade down the streets playing their music requesting contributions and hand out “tags” to people who contributed. We do not sell anything but simply encourage our students to play their instruments or sing to the homeowner as gratitude for their contributions. All music students are strongly encouraged to participate.

What do I need to do? * Students should expect to participate for the entire day. * Parents are needed to drive (drivers must be over 21 years of age—no exceptions), to provide food (brownies, cookies, crackers, chips, etc) and bottled water and to help with preparing materials for Tag Day packets and accounting.

When is it? Saturday, Sept 6 th , 2014 from 8:00am to approx 3:00pm

What should I wear? Students wear their band uniforms, band t-shirts, choir t-shirts, guitar t-shirts or other approved Heritage clothing.

How does it benefit the students in music programs? Loudoun County provides approximately $5,000 for the music programs at HHS. This past year, the music programs had needs that totaled just $35,000. Tag Day is the biggest fundraiser we have all year to help defray these costs. ------
