After Years of Writing and Playing Songs About, Rhythm and Booze and Good

Leo’s Mom BIO

After years of writing and playing songs about, “rhythm and booze” and “good lovin’ gone bad” what else would naturally come next?. . . rock music for kids !!! JOHN CONTE and LISA DESIMONE of LEO’S MOM are New York natives and professional musicians that are undoubtedly inspired by their super-wonderful, almost 9-year-old son, LEO !!! Lisa and John sing songs that every kid can relate to, from “My Back Pack” and “Mud Puddle” to “I Only Want to Play!” Their unique blend of child-friendly lyrics and Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Aerosmith, and Stones influenced music is likely to catch the ear of parents, too!

After their son’s arrival, Lisa became a full-time mom and rarely made time for anything else until friends pleaded with her to sing at their kids birthday parties! “This band has evolved so naturally,” says Lisa. “All the work that we’ve done in the past, our talent, our experience is coming together with ease! Leo loves what we’re doing and can totally relate, join in and feel connected to us even while we’re working!” Lisa has appeared on MTV, daytime soaps and TV commercials.

Lisa also leads music/performance/songwriting classes in the New York Public School system. She works with the teachers to develop curriculum-based lessons that provide enrichment and lots of fun. At the Third-Street Music School Settlement, Lisa is an assistant teacher for the Learning, Arts and Me program.

John tours, gigs and records with major label acts (Jon Bon Jovi, The Bacon Brothers, Rosanne Cash, Joan Osborne, Southside Johnny and The Asbury Jukes) has played at events with John Mayer, Gavin DeGraw, Chuck Berry, Sting and Billy Joel and licenses/writes TV/radio commercials. “I love playing guitar in our new band,” John says, “I get to rock-out, jump around and see the kids smile!”

LEO’S MOM soon started working with other New York City kids performers (Ivan Ulz and Tony Corsano’s Family Jam) at school fairs and outdoor festivals and headlined the highly-publicized rock event, Mamapalooza. The outdoor extravaganza, sponsored by Family Circle, took place at Riverside Park in Manhattan and was a great success for them. Lisa exclaimed, “John, we’ve got to complete our CD soon. . .the requests to buy our music are pouring in!”

Time Out Kids NY featured LEO’S MOM in an article about the current trend in kids’ music. “It is so exciting to have our songs out there being appreciated and to have gained respect as the ones that are creating this next wave in kids’ music!” says Lisa. “It feels like the right place at the right time!”

Naturally, John and Lisa are in the studio writing new tracks while Leo is banging away on the drums and humming along. LEO’S MOM is available for bookings and can be contacted at:
