[1492] 2 1 clubs; music lessons; health screenings; voting sites; sports 2 leagues; and numerous other recreational opportunities; and 3 4 Whereas, in 2008, RCRC was named South Carolina Recreation 5 and Park Association Agency of the Year, and the commission 6 continues its long tradition of excellence in the field of parks and 7 recreation; and 8 9 Whereas, cognizant that parks, open spaces, and recreation 10 programs and facilities create healthy communities, reduce crime, 11 attract business, raise economic levels, increase real estate and 12 property values, and encourage tourism, the General Assembly 13 wishes to express its grateful thanks for the fine work of the 14 Richland County Recreation Commission and salute the agency for 15 its half century of serving the citizens and communities of the 16 South Carolina Midlands. Now, therefore, 17 18 Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives 19 concurring: 20 21 That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this 22 resolution, recognize and congratulate the Richland County 23 Recreation Commission on the occasion of its fiftieth anniversary 24 and thank the commission for the many lifeenriching services it 25 provides to the people of South Carolina. 26 27 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to 28 the Richland County Recreation Commission. 29 XX 30
