AGENDA GOVERNING BOARD OF THE BLAKE SCHOOL DISTRICT 19165 Main Street, Woody, CA 93287

Regular Meeting Wednesday, June 14, 2017 Open Session 6:00 pm

OPEN SESSION

The Governing Board will meet in open session at 7:00 p.m. to conduct the Regular Meeting, reserving the right to go into closed session at any time to consider appropriate agenda items. Any materials required by law to be made available to the public prior to the meeting of the Board of Trustees of the District can be inspected at Blake Elementary School (19165 Main Street) during normal school hours (8 AM - 3 PM, Monday-Friday). Any individual who requires disability-related accommodations or modifications, including auxiliary aids and services, in order to participate in the Board meeting should contact Erin Rogers, Blake School Board Recording Secretary at 536-8559 or Mr. Gary Bray, Superintendent, at Kern Superintendent of Schools Office (636-4742) during regular business hours.

4. PUBLIC COMMENTS: This session is an opportunity for citizens to make suggestions, identify concerns or request information about matters affecting the school district. Speakers may offer such constructive criticism as concerns them. In open session, the Board will not hear personal complaints of school personnel or complaints against any person, through name or inference, connected with the school system. The complaints should be referred directly to the office of the Teacher/Principal.

13. BOARD GOALS FOR 2016-2017: Board will continue reviewing the goals and make any changes as necessary. a. Upgrade and maintain school facilities. b. Attract and retain highly qualified and effective staff. c. Students to be proficient at grade level. d. Provide instructional materials appropriate to multi-graded classrooms. e. Fiscally sound protecting the classroom from reductions in services. f. Review the educational needs of 6th, 7th and 8th graders. g. Adoption of Educational Benchmarks for all grade levels.

14. PROPOSAL FROM TRENT MAAS: A proposal has been submitted by Trent Maas, on behalf of our renters, for the purchase and installation of a Air conditioning unit for the Teacher-age (Rental). RESOLUTION #061417 IN THE MATTER OF ESTABLISHMENT OF PROTOCOLS FOR GOVERNING BOARD ELECTIONS: Board will address the combined resolution ordering Biennial Election, specifying the number of words for Candidate statements, requesting consolidation of the Election and requiring filings to specify the method of resolving tie votes, to provide notification of seats to be filled and Incumbents occupying them, and to specify the Bearer of costs for Candidate statements. WASCO FOOD SERVICE AGREEEMENT: Board will be presented with the Agreement between Blake Elementary School and Wasco Union School District, for food services (lunches) for the 2017-2018 School Year. 19. INSTRUCTIONAL MEDIA SERVICES AGREEMENT: Board will be presented with an Agreement between Blake Elementary and KCSOS for Instructional Media Services including California Streaming. Cost is $27.71 per year. Motion______Second______Ayes____ Nays____ Abstain____

21. TEACHER INDUCTION PROGRAM MOU - KCSOS AGT #18-0231: Board will be presented with a Memorandum of Understanding to enter into an agreement with KCSOS through its Teacher Induction Program (formerly known as BTSA). The purpose of the Program is to support educational entities by providing a credentialing program for their beginning teachers who has a preliminary or Level 1 credential a need a clear credential.
