Penn State Facilities Eligible for Interactive Video Conferencing Design Service

TNS provides a video conferencing room design service. However, this service is limited to small to medium sized rooms. Specifically, a room with dimensions of 30’ on any side affords seating for 15 video conferencing participants. This is the maximum conference room size for which a request for design will be accepted. TNS can not accept or perform video conferencing room designs for larger facilities since the design for larger rooms is not within the scope of expertise for TNS.

Figure 1 highlights aspects of a video conferencing facility suitable for 15 participants or less.

Due to the wide variety of custom components available and the requirement of automation for many large facilities, it is recommended the facility coordinator contact an interactive video integrator to pursue the design of such a facility.

For large venues TNS offers core (codec component only) design and hardware support for these large venues where the end user has opted to construct a video conferencing facility through an integrator.

Large venue design information can be secured by contacting Penn State’s Office of Physical Plant (OPP) or the University Libraries Media and Technical Support Services. TNS can also provide names of additional third party design services as request.

To proceed with a request for a video conferencing design, please contact TNS via http://tns.its.psu.edu/forms/RoomBasedVidInfoReq.html to post an inquiry. You may alternately use the customer inquiry line at 814-865-1696. An Engineer will respond to your inquiry within 24 hours. Most inquiries are serviced during the same day in which they are received.
