Reports to Granting Agencies With Bob Yates, Kenn Cust, Debbie Abney, Cameron Thrall, and Ron Long, I co- authored a proposal to create two computer classrooms for our Department. I wrote significant parts of this proposal. Member, ad hoc Integrated Arts committee (chairs, Kathy Easter and Amy Levin), 1992- 93; Integrated Arts Summer Workshop grant proposal completed and submitted to the National Endowment for the Humanities (rejected in December, 1993).

Grants in Support of Research of Teaching CMSU General Services grant of $1000, with Robert Yates, on employers’ responses to errors in students’ writing.

Record of Professional Service I edited a 30-page ms., “Evaluating Land use Dynamics: The Case Study of Nepal’s Bara District (1973-2003) for Keshav Bhattarai. (January, 2005). I directed a McCap scholar project with Maggie McDermott, on Malcolm X and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., as reflecting ideas and influences of Emerson in “Self Reliance” and “The American Scholar.” (2004). I directed what would be called a Master’s Thesis if it were not tied to the Academic Enrichment Department (ENGL 5920, Research Problems) for Diana Gladfelter. (2004) I have directed 6 completed Senior theses and have 3 in progress (Spring 2005). (I’ve done at least 3 more that I don’t recall and didn’t record anywhere.) These are 1-hour interviews held with English Education majors to assess their readiness for directed teaching (2004, 2003, 2002, 2001, 2000, 1999, 1998, 1997, 1996, 1995, 1994, 1993).
