Unified English Braille (UEB) Practice Sentences Most Common Usages - Exceptions Omitted by Roberta Becker Co-author of Literary Braille Practice Sentences (with Phil Mangold)
Unified English Braille (UEB) Practice Sentences provides practice sentences for each braille contraction, set up in a sequential, easy-to-learn format.
Available in both print and braille. Braille readers can check their own answers.
All UEB contractions are included.
Sentences progress from simple to complex, making it easy to select appropriate exercises for individual students.
All practice sentences are provided in both print and simulated braille on facing pages. This allows easy access to braille answers for parents, transcribers, and teachers.
Note to braillereaders: The print brochure shows images of two pages from the book. The right side image is a page with print sentences. On the left side is an image showing the corresponding sentences in simulated (print) braille dots.
Some of the sentences are: 1. Can you do that? 2. Yes, I can do that. 3. We all like cookies. 4. Do you have a toy? 5. Will daddy let us go? The book progresses through all of the various types of braille contractions. Here are some sentences from the Lesson on Final-Letter contractions: 1. I found my money on the ground. 2. The police surrounded the house. 3. You will never guess what I found! 4. We like to ride the merry-go-round. 5. I need a pound of cheese for the pizza.
Contractions are introduced one at a time (where possible), with sufficient repetition for mastery.
Included are practice sentences for UEB symbols: punctuation, Internet addresses, mathematical symbols, and typeface indicators. “Exceptions to the rules” have been omitted, allowing students to become secure with braille configurations and basic rules.
This book can be useful in writing IEP goals and objectives.
Note to braille readers: The braille version of the book only includes the sentences in tactile braille. No other information is available in the hard copy braille format.
All of this is designed to build confidence in contraction knowledge, self- esteem, and therefore SUCCESS for beginning and more advanced braille learners.
