Before you adopted your dog, the Humane Society provided distemper and rabies and kennel cough vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery, worming, heartworm testing, heartworm medication (depending on the time of year), and microchipping. The adoption fee also includes the first year of microchip registration. We also routinely treat for fleas if needed. We also provided any immediate veterinary care that was required. We believe this provides a strong foundation for the long-term health of your new companion.

We also believe that a good relationship with a local veterinarian is critical, and that regular vet care is an important part of keeping your pet healthy and being a responsible pet owner. To help you establish this relationship, the following area vets will provide a free exam after adoption. Make sure to bring your Humane Society adoption paperwork and medical history, including rabies certificate, with you when you bring you pet for their exam.
