COOLAMON SHIRE COUNCIL

FACEBOOK POLICY

PURPOSE

Facebook will be used to promote the Coolamon Shire Library and all content added will reflect the Coolamon Shire Council and Library in a positive light. Coolamon Shire Library Facebook page aims to engage users, increase patronage of the Library and market Council events. The page will also be used as an effective tool in seeking feedback from Shire residents.

MONITORING

Page to be checked from the Library daily Tuesday-Friday. Youth & Community Development Officer to check over the weekend at least once. User questions/requests must be responded to within a reasonable timeframe. Depending on complexity this should not exceed 3 days. Negative or inappropriate comments that potentially harm Coolamon Shire Council’s image will be deleted but must be communicated to the General Manager.

CONTENT

Content is to be added by the Coolamon Shire Librarian and the Youth and Community Development Officer to maintain page consistency. Appropriate Staff may however relate messages “from the Mayor” or “from the General Manager” to communicate information if requested.

Status updates must be relevant to the Coolamon Shire Library/Council and not of a personal nature.

Status updates and comments must reflect Coolamon Shire Council in a positive way. Coolamon Shire Library Facebook page can be used to advertise and promote relevant Library and Council events including, but not limited to:

 School Holiday Program and Youth Week events  Local Government Week  Book Week  Storytime sessions

Coolamon Shire Library Facebook page can be used to advertise and promote community events if determined to be relevant to the cultural activity of the Shire. PROMOTIONS

All promotions run by the Coolamon Shire Library Facebook page must adhere to Facebook promotion guidelines. The page may be used to promote Library competitions and Reader’s Premier Challenge etc.

PHOTOS

All photos published on the Coolamon Shire Library Facebook page must be appropriate and adequately titled/described. Permission to publish must be sought from photographed individuals or, where the subject is under 18 years of age, their parent/guardian. Photographic release forms should be obtained where possible. Photos of children under 18 years of age should be labelled with first names identified only. Photographs must be credited where the photographer is a member of the public and not a Council employee.

EVENT LISTINGS

The creation of event listings must be undertaken only for Library and Council events, no community events. After initially ‘informing fans’ of an event listing, event guests may be messaged no more than twice per week.

Facebook administrators must use the Coolamon Shire Library community page in a positive manner at all times and must regularly update Senior Staff on Facebook activity. A written report on the Coolamon Shire Library Facebook page will be prepared for Council twice a year.
