API 17Q RECOMMENDED PRACTICE for SUBSEA EQUIPMENT QUALIFICATION

JANUARY 2013 API RP 17Q SUBSEA EQUIPMENT QUALIFICATION STATUS REPORT API RP 17Q SUBSEA EQUIPMENT QUALIFICATION STATUS REPORT

1. INTRODUCTION

The API 17Q Task Group (TG) kicked-off on February 8, 2008 to develop a recommended practice that outlines a consistent methodology and documentation process for the qualification of subsea equipment.

2. STATUS

First Edition issued June 18, 2010.

Task Group lead polled the below list of (non- EM) Task Group members on August 30 and received an underwhelming response. Only two subsea suppliers indicated that 17Q was being used (sparingly and primarily for EM projects). This combined with two other suppliers and one other Operator who indicated use of the RP at last year’s summer meeting. This correlates to the dropping trend in 17Q sales figures (10 copies in 2010, 7 copies in 2011 and 5 copies in 2012).
