HELP ME GROW JOB DESCRIPTION

Human Resources & Outreach Job Title: FLSA Status: Exempt Coordinator Reports To: Director Last Revision: 1.2.2014 Department: Communications / Outreach Salary Grade: 27 Approved By: Salary Range: $39,473-$59,210 Positions Supervised: None

PURPOSE

Responsible for managing day to day human resource functions in compliance with state, federal and fiscal agent requirements. In addition to HR functions, this position is responsible for planning and implementing outreach strategies for internal and external audiences including promotional materials, news releases, website, public forums & events as well as social media activities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Plans and develops all communication tools and publications provided to internal and external consumers. 2. Develops and disseminates public awareness materials to local school systems, child care facilities and libraries and may provide training when necessary. 3. Cultivates and maintains strong professional relationships with public systems to ensure primary referral sources have appropriate information to make referrals. 4. Facilitates bi-monthly meetings and ongoing relationship with Hospital Based Child Find staff to ensure Help Me Grow referral sources are effectively working to promote HMG services to physicians, hospital staff & physicians. 5. Produces newsletters, annual reports, news releases, brochures, fliers, and all other marketing and public relations materials. 6. Manages Help Me Grow social media efforts including Facebook and Twitter. Provides input and updates to Help Me Grow website as needed. 7. Coordinates the scheduling of special events such as workshops, fairs and presentations and arranges for staffing of events, setup of events and appropriate materials for distribution. 8. Conducts presentations customized to audience which include medical staff, child care providers, legislators, parents and students. 9. Prepares communications and reports as needed. 10. Acts as a resource to management and employees in resolving matters related to employee relations. 11. Develop trust and understanding of staff to effectively serve as a liaison between employees and management team. 12. Acts as a resource to management and employees on the interpretation and implementation of policies and practices as well as with relevant state, federal and local employment laws. 13. Coach and advice managers on performance related issues, promotions and restructuring of departments or job responsibilities. 14. Manages all aspects of recruiting process from job posting, screening, interviewing, reference checks and orientation. 15. Collaborate with fiscal agent for candidate background checks, new hire paperwork and changes in employee status. 16. Conduct exit interviews, analyze data for trends and make necessary recommendations to management team. 17. Works with direct service staff to develop relationships with HMG families in order to obtain success stories needed for reports, public relations and promotional materials.

18. Functions as a key member of the management team and participates in the creation and implementation of strategic and operational planning for the organization. 19. Represents HMG at internal and external local and state committees and meetings. 20. Interacts professionally on a regular basis with staff, media, vendors and the general public. 21. Assumes additional responsibilities and performs special projects as needed or directed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Training and/or Experience

1. Bachelor’s degree in area Communications, Business, Social Sciences or related field. 2. At least 3 years related experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics 1. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and use of intranet and internet. 2. Proficiency with layout software (i.e. Pagemaker, Publisher, etc.) and database applications. 3. Team building skills; organizational and staff development skills. 4. Well-developed analytical and problem solving abilities. 5. Ability to read, write and interpret reports and business correspondence for a diverse audience. 6. Ability to organize work, engage in a variety of tasks simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines. 7. High degree of initiative and independent judgment. 8. Ability to demonstrate a high attention to detail and good follow-up skills. Must be self-motivated, proactive and solution focused. 9. Working knowledge of human resource laws and regulations. 10. Public speaking and presentation skills. 11. Ability to express self effectively and concisely, both verbally and in writing. 12. Ability to tactfully and effectively deal with public and staff in a personable and professional manner. 13. Maintains a high level of energy and a consistent positive attitude.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations

Valid Ohio Driver’s License and appropriate insurance coverage.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s Degree and experience in Early Childhood.
