Prerequisite: English with a grade of C or better Graduation: a-g Elective credits only Duration: 1 class period and 2 semesters Credit: 10 units per semester with a grade of “D” or better

Course Description: Child Development and Guidance introduces the student to a better understanding of children as well as providing insight into to their own growth and development. Students will learn that meeting children’s needs is not easy and that adults and others have an important role in helping children grow, learn and develop into positive individuals. Whether students are interested in a career with children such as teaching, or being a more effective parent, they will realize that studying child growth and development is challenging, important, and relevant to roles of individuals as parents, siblings, teachers, and mentors.
