This course aims to raise awareness of good early years practice and to develop Aim confidence in Foundation Stage practice for those new to this area.
This is an interactive course for all those new to teaching in the Foundation Stage and Foundation Stage/Key Stage One mixed classes. Day 1 will provide participants with an overview of the EYFS framework and the characteristics of learning. Through the discussion of practical examples, including photos and film, participants will be introduced to the concept of the learning environment as the ‘third educator’, along with the observation, assessment and planning cycle within everyday routines. Description Professional reading will be signposted to enable participants to develop their understanding of early years pedagogy. Participants will also be supported to engage in a focused school based task to enable them to develop their practice further. Day 2 will give participants opportunities to feedback on their task and develop an understanding of how their findings can help them develop good early years practice. The course will give participants time to reflect on their practice, celebrating their strengths and identifying challenges Participants will have: gained an understanding of the EYFS framework and the characteristics of Learning effective learning developed an understanding of the observation, assessment and planning Outcomes cycle in everyday practice evaluated their current learning environment and gained an understanding of how to develop this further to support good practice.
