CHINESE I (SECONDARY)
ESSENTIAL UNIT 7 (E07)
(Date and Time) (September 2013)
Unit Statement: In this unit the students will learn how to use Chinese words to tell time and describe the days of the week as well as converse about daily routines.
Essential Outcomes: (must be assessed for mastery)
1. The Student Will recognize the following characters: 上课/have classes, 下 课/after school, 宿舍/dorm, 网球/tennis, 电脑房/computer lab, 国际/international, 每/every, 起床/get up, 开始/start, 以后/after, 电视/television, 睡觉/sleep, 祝/wish, 见/see or meet, 电影院/cinema, 午饭/lunch
2. TSW follow the rules for writing the following Chinese characters: 现/now, 点 钟/o’clock, 分/minute, 差/to, 刻/quarter, 半/half, 今/today, 明/tomorrow, 昨 天/yesterday, 星期/week, 早/morning, 晚/evening or late, 午/noon,吃/eat, 打 /play or beat, 回/return, 作业/homework. (Interpersonal and Presentational writing)
3. TSW recignize all unit vocabulary words (Interpretive Listening and Reading)
4. TSW tell time on a clock as well as the date, month, year and day of the week. (Interpersonal listening and Interpretive reading)
5. TSW tell time on a clock and know different ways to tell the same time of clock in Chinese. (Interpersonal listening and Interpretive reading)
6. TSW read, recite and write a summary of his/her class schedule. (Interpretive reading and Presentational writing)
7. TSW self-select and read level-appropriate literature independently for at least 30minuts per week. (Interpretive reading)

1. The Student Will make a timeline of family members’ birthdays. (Presentational writing)
2. TSW make appointments in Chinese using the phone or in person. (Interpersonal)
3. TSW construct a graph to illustrate major school events during school year. (Presentational writing)
