Have a story to tell? Want to create a live performance and radio broadcast? The counterculture era holds a treasure trove of history. Your personal experiences are part of that legacy and can expand our understanding of the impact of those times.
We invite you to delve into your personal archive of memories, writings and images by joining us for a weekend workshop to craft your story relating to the counterculture era. The result will be a public presentation, potluck, a live or produced community radio broadcast and an on-line presence.
We are looking for New Mexicans’ unique personal stories which stem from the ethos of the counterculture movement. Ten applicants from five New Mexico communities will be selected to participate. Eligible applicants must be 19 years of age or older, have trans- portation and live near one of the five communities. They must have a connection, through their own history, with the counterculture era.
This innovative workshop will bring together older participants with memories of the pe- riod, and subsequent generations to share their wealth of stories of activism and politi- cal and social change. We want to explore the common threads between older and younger generations who are invested in: ● Justice and equality ● Sustainability ● Spirituality ● Art as a form of activism and creativity ● Alternative life-styles
Workshops begin with a Friday evening presentation followed by a two-day workshop on a Saturday and Sunday, with a designated community event date. Applications are to be received two weeks prior to the workshop start date listed below:
