Lenape PTO Meeting Minutes October 14, 2014

Call to Order: 7:10pm—Linda Schwartz

Officer’s Reports: President: Linda Schwartz - Welcome and hello to the new people who came out o Thank you for coming out o Mission of PTO . Raise funds to provide scholarships for students . Project Graduation

Treasurer: Shirley Chow (reviewed by Linda Schwartz) - Presentation of cash flow statement o Current opening balance:  Lenape PTO=$3,000.00  Project Graduation=$13,715.51 o Parents “pay it forward” for underclassmen o more fundraising planned this year

Secretary: Kristin Demree o Minutes from last month’s meeting presented for approval o Mr. Westman requested changes to Old Business report re: proposal of modified block scheduling—promoted some questions and brief discussion of how lunch would be handled ensued o Motion to approve: Bianca o Motion seconded: Linda Schwartz o Passed unanimously (pending corrections)

Principal’s Report: Len Westman  Discussion—Proposed Modified Block schedule -positives: lunch offers flexibility, opportunities to seek help, and allows athletes the chance to participate in clubs  NJDOE Week of Respect recognized at Lenape  James Clemente and his mother (Tyler Clemente)=guest speakers about bullying at an assembly moderated by Jack Watson  10/15 PSATs will be administered until about 10:45 or 11. Seniors can come in late.  10/17 Football team is doing VERY well this year at 4-0. Lenape v Cherokee game Friday  10/23 Senior pinning ceremony  10/30 Harrington Middle School-Lenape High School-Lenape High School Annual Curriculum Fair Parent speaker = Julie Silver Student speaker = Marissa Topolski  10/31 Lenape Pride Day  11/1 Homecoming Football game = LHS v Cherry Hill East 12 noon Dance = 7-10pm  Courtyard has been landscaped by Eric's Landscaping thanks to class gifts  Craft Show coming up: Linda inquired about setting up a PTO table—Mr. Westman will inquire

Committee Reports: Hospitality: Sheila Thompson (via Linda Schwartz) o Ready to go for the Spring

Project Graduation: Ronnie McMahon and Theresa McErlain o sending donation letters o Barnes and Noble Night (12/2) o possibility of gift wrap brought up o $5 bags for sale (Liz Robostello's idea) o Talking to entertainment companies . hypnotists . blow ups o Idea discussed: Family feud fundraising event (see Mr. Laddey and Mr. Walsh) o All should be rolling by January o Good to start now o Restaurant Night fundraising money will go toward PG after the new year

Scholarships: Chrissy Bresley o No report

Safe Homes: Helen Campbell (via Linda Schwartz) o Petitions still coming in

Restaurant Nights: Erin Taylor o Subway . Sandwiches provided courtesy of Purvi Patil (THANK YOU!) . very willing to help with fundraising/providing food for events . 2 events 12/16 and 12/18 (concert nights) at the Cherry Hill Subway o Questions . re: getting in touch with Mr. Laddey to get events onto calendar . possibility of updating PTO website with schedule of Restaurant Nights?  Wendy and Charlotte are good contacts o Chick Fil A Night . both locations (Centerton and Moorestown) Talent Show Night . Calendars—9 sold. We only pay for what we sell

Harrington/Hartford Liaison: Dorothy Davis (poss.)

Lenape Faculty Liaison: possibly deleting this position
