Diocesan Anglican Covenant Study Guide Now Available

November 18, 2010

Diocesan Anglican Covenant study guide now available The Rev. Andrew Grosso, canon theologian for the Episcopal Diocese of Kansas, has compiled a study guide on the proposed Anglican Covenant. The study guide is in four parts, making it suitable for use on four consecutive Sundays during adult study classes. Each week is produced as a two-page PDF and is posted on the diocesan website, www.episcopal-ks.org. Links to the individual sections are: Part 1: http://www.episcopal-ks.org/documents/10-11-28%20-%201.%20Covenant %20Background.pdf Part 2: http://www.episcopal-ks.org/documents/10-12-05%20-%202.%20Covenant%20Outline.pdf Part 3: http://www.episcopal-ks.org/documents/10-12-12%20-%203.%20Biblical%20Perspectives.pdf Part 4: http://www.episcopal-ks.org/documents/10-12-19%20-%204.%20Response.pdf Parishes and individuals who complete the study guide and who want their comments to be part of the pre-General Convention discussion may send them before April 24, 2011, by e-mail to [email protected] Bishop Dean Wolfe has encouraged parishes to consider devoting time to studying this document in Advent of this year. Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori and House of Deputies President Bonnie Anderson issued a letter Sept. 3 that calls on all congregations to study and discuss the proposed Covenant in time to offer input for its consideration at General Convention in July 2012. A covenant first was proposed in 2004 as a way for the Anglican Communion to maintain unity amid differing viewpoints, especially on issues of human sexuality and biblical interpretation.

This link was shared with me recently by Sue Mason at St. Michael and All Angels, Mission: http://rowsofsharon.com/2010/10/05/a-cry-for-help/ It has a variety of resources that I thought might be helpful to all those in our diocese who are charged with faith formation for youth and children. Blessings to you all in your ministries that can quite literally save lives.
