The agenda was read and approved as written.

The minutes from the April 28, 2008 meeting were read and approved as written.

Alison Barber discussed plans for continuing the search for a new Dean of the College. She noted that the search process will begin in earnest again using the same committee. She also noted that it is unlikely that any candidates will be brought to campus prior to the beginning of the Fall semester. Delaying to the Fall semester ensures that all faculty will have an opportunity to view and interview new candidates. She indicated that there were no additional candidates currently in the pool. Therefore the committee will ask the search firm to search for new applicants and to consider approaching selected individuals who were not interested last year.

Discussion next centered on the issue of finding an interim dean for the College. It was noted that the selection of an interim dean is the sole prerogative of the Provost, but that it seemed appropriate for the CAC to meet with the Provost prior to his selection and offer any assistance he may wish in making this selection. The committee also discussed possible advice it could offer the Provost about this decision.

R. Wiseman has asked the Provost for a time when he could meet with the CAC and his secretary has promised to provide times when he would be available to meet with the CAC. To that end, all members of the committee were asked to send their availability for a meeting to Julie Alchin who will coordinate the Committee’s schedules.

The meeting was adjourned at 4:20 p.m.
