METHILHAVEN SURGERY TRAVEL HEALTH SERVICES
We are able to provide a minimum Travel Clinic as follows:-
Review of fully completed travel risk assessment form. Please ensure that you fill in ALL of the required information as any gaps will delay the process.
This should be handed in a minimum of four weeks prior to departure.
Sister Smith or Nurse Galbraith will then assess your travel needs and a Travel Health information pack along with your immunisation requirements should be available to collect one week after forms are submitted. If it is clear that a Speciality Travel Clinic is required you will be informed accordingly.
We will enclose a prescription for the recommended vaccines that we can administer with your pack. It will then become your responsibility to obtain these vaccines from the Chemist (vaccines must be refrigerated) and make appointments with Nurse Practitioner Sister Smith or Practice Nurse Angela Galbraith for your vaccinations. It is in your interest to book your appointment as soon as possible as some vaccines can take 2-3 weeks to become fully effective.
On assessment of your travel form we will advise you if any malarial prophylaxis is required, most of these drugs can be bought over the counter at most Chemist/Pharmacy outlets. Malarone can be purchased at Asda Pharmacy, Mitchelston Industrial Estate, Carberry Place, Kirkcaldy, KY1 3NG. Tel: 01592 657210
