Aberdeen YMCA1, established in 1858, is a small local charity registered in Scotland. We are a Christian charity committed to empowering young people regardless of gender, race, ability or faith within the Christian ethos of the YMCA. We are affiliated to YMCA Scotland2, which is a member movement of YMCA Europe3 and the World Alliance of YMCAs4. Therefore we are a local autonomous branch of a global youthwork organisation. Aberdeen YMCA is managed by an elected and very active Board of Directors. Since 1997 we have succeeded as a small local charity by employing a youthworker to manage our children and youthwork programmes in our Skene Terrace buildings. The delivery of our programmes has been supported by a full-time volunteer that we recruit through a scheme similar to European Voluntary Service. Some of our programmes are led individually by YMCA directors. The Board of Directors agreed that there are many opportunities for the organisation to grow significantly in the next decade through developments in collaboration with the local council, schools, colleges, churches, trusts and other voluntary sector organisations. As a consequence, the Board of Directors recently appointed a Chief Executive to work collaboratively and creatively with the Board to take advantage of these opportunities to impact positively on the lives of young people in our city. The post of Plusone Programme Manager is the first step in growing the organisation following the appointment of our Chief Executive. We are looking for a high quality, motivated, creative, energetic and enthusiastic Christian who is looking for a dynamic challenge in developing this new area of work within the organisation. The appointment will initially be for a period of 3 years. The salary will start at £25,000. Superannuation arrangements are made in accordance with pension rules and existing YMCA practice. Annual leave consists of 5 weeks holidays plus 9 public holidays and can be taken at any time of the year where mutually convenient and is agreed in January of each year. Any other informal queries regarding terms of employment, prior to employment can be directed to the Chairman.
