CRANE OPERATIONS PERMIT APPLICATION FORM
Crane Operations within 6 kms of Cranfield Airport with a height exceeding 10m or that of the surrounding structures or trees have the potential to create air safety hazards and may affect airport operations. To protect the airspace of Cranfield Airport, all crane activities are required by law to be assessed and approved by the Airport.
This form is to be used when operators require to carry out crane operations in the vicinity of Cranfield Airport and its safeguarded area. Please bear in mind that crane approvals can take up to 30 days.
Must be completed in electronic format.

S e p t 1 7 PART 4 – CONDITIONS OF USE The crane operator is to read, understand acknowledge the below permit conditions of use:- 1. Confirm that the information supplied on this form is accurate and correct. 2. Confirm that the crane will be lowered outside the daily hours of airport operations, unless otherwise authorised. 3. Confirm that any stipulations made by Cranfield Airport will be adhered to (i.e. crane to be lit, crane to be lowered during period of low visibility etc.,). Understand that the “British Standard Institute Code of Practice for the safe use of cranes (BS7121 Part 1)” will be adhered to at all times. 4. Note that until such time as this application form has been approved, signed and returned the crane operation is not approved. 5. I certify that the information given above is correct and accurate and will immediately inform Air Traffic Control at Cranfield (01234 750005) if any changes are necessary to the above information. 1. Obstacle Lights to be fitted to top of crane and in operation at all times. 2. The crane must not be raised until final approval has been sought by ATC on 01234 750005. 3. Crane must not be used in low visibility conditions as stipulated by Cranfield Air Traffic Control. 4. The crane must not be operated in an area outside of the area mentioned by latitude/longitude above. 5. The crane must not be operated at a height exceeding that mentioned above. To do so would be a breach of the British Standard Institute Code of Practice for the Safe Use of Cranes.
Approval Process :-
1. Crane operator to complete form and email to [email protected]
2. Crane will be safeguarded by Airport Ops or Airport Manager.
3. Form sent to MATS / SATCO for IFP check.
4. Form sent to ATC for NOTAM / CAA Approval.
