MONDAY: First Day Business: Introduce ourselves. Explain classroom procedures & expectations. Organize binders with dividers. Eng 6: Types of Sentences, Lesson 1 WIR: Unit 9 Developing Vocabulary – vocabulary strategies. Read aloud pages 321-330 Students will use context clues to define words

TUESDAY: Eng 6: Complete Lesson 1, page 2 Vocabulary: Review vocabulary list from Tuck Everlasting (posted online) –read and spell aloud, find a synonym and antonym for each word

WEDNESDAY: Eng. 6: Subjects & predicates – identify simple and complete Literature: Tuck Everlasting- discuss themes. Share synonyms and antonyms from vocabulary WIR: Unit 9 – pages 331-335. Review word origins. Introduce denotation and connotation. Give examples. Create mnemonic device as a class.

THURSDAY: Eng. 6: Complete Subjects and Predicates, Lesson 2, page 4. Literature: Read over the assignment for Tuck Everlasting posted online Vocabulary: Select two vocabulary words from Tuck Everlasting vocab list and create a mnemonic device on notebook paper. See WIR page 335

FRIDAY: Eng. 6: Compound Subjects & Predicates WIR: Unit 9 Developing Vocabulary pages 336 Share Mnemonic devices. Review synonym, antonyms & homonyms. Literature: Tuck Everlasting- handout sheet: “Spring Water” Composition: Using thesaurus point out over used words. Brainstorm for better choices.

Weekend Homework: Eng. 6: Complete Compound Subjects and Predicates, Lesson 3, page 6. Read over the assignment for Tuck Everlasting posted online.

Note to co-teacher: You may keep the English 6 book intact if you would like, or tear out the Chapters and place them in their binders as we work through them. Please decide what would be best for your student. Also, if you have a copy of Tuck Everlasting then please bring it to class, and if not, no need to worry.
