SIERRA VALLEY ROPING CLUB 2017 SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

1. Be a resident of Sierra County or Plumas County.

2. Be majoring in an Agricultural Field (such as Agriculture Business, Agriculture Education or Animal Science) OR be a member of a family deriving its income from agriculture OR Roping Club Member.

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS CHECKLIST:

 Submit the completed application form to the Sierra Valley Roping Club Scholarship Committee through mail by May 1, 2017. Winners will be announced at the Loyalton High School Spring Banquet on June 2, 2017 and any other Sierra Plumas High School via their senior awards night. Any recipient selected from a college will be informed via telephone.

 Be enrolled as a full-time student at a university, junior college or trade school for the 2017-2018 academic year.

 Have a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher.

 Submit two letters of recommendation from a teacher or community member. Letters from family members will not be accepted.

 Submit official high school OR college transcripts in a sealed envelope with the official seal.

 Applicant must be willing to appear for a personal interview with the Sierra Valley Roping Club Scholarship Committee.

GENERAL INFORMATION & REGULATIONS

1. If scholarship is awarded, the scholarship will be presented after the first semester, if eligibility requirements are met. Eligibility is based upon completion of twelve units and a minimum of 2.50 G.P.A. Credits will be checked through a transcript or report card upon the completion of the first semester and proof of enrollment for the second semester.

2. If a student drops out of school while the award is in effect, funds must be returned in full.

3. All information submitted will be considered strictly confidential and used for the Sierra Valley Roping Club Scholarship Committee for the selection of the recipients of their scholarships.

4. One recipient will be selected to receive the Sierra Valley Roping Club Scholarship and one will receive the Steve Maddalena Memorial Scholarship. One high school recipient will be selected. Following this, the next best applicant, whether from high school or college, will be selected for the other Scholarship.
