The graduation requirement is 3 credit hours. Typically, students take 4 credit hours of CHEM A499 – 2 credit hours in the fall semester and 2 credit hours in the spring semester. Each credit hour equates to 3-4 actual hours in the laboratory each week of the semester. 5A grade of C or higher is required in all cognate courses listed. 6 Developmental courses cannot be used toward this degree.
JUSTIFICATION FOR NEW PROGRAM
The baccalaureate degree in chemistry with a concentration in biochemistry is designed for students interested in completing a curriculum with a biochemistry focus. This degree option is designed to provide students with the background necessary to continue their education at the graduate level in biochemistry or medicine or to pursue a career related to biochemistry.
