This course is required for and limited to participants in the Department of Psychology and Cognitive Science Distinguished Majors Program (DMP). The purpose of the seminar is to provide information and guidance about the process of preparing a thesis, to discuss professional development issues, and to encourage communication among DMP participants.

3870 is a one-credit seminar (graded S/U) designed to supplement the Distinguished Major Thesis, PSYC 4970, a three-credit research course (graded in the Spring, after completion of PSYCH 4980).

Class sessions consist of group and individual meetings. Additional course information and schedule updates will be announced in class or e-mail. If you cannot attend class, please notify the instructor in advance.

One aim of the seminar is that you learn about current psychological/cognitive science research. You can do this by attending area weekly research meetings, department colloquia, and department job talks. You can attend an area research meeting on a regular basis if you like. You are required to attend a minimum of two research presentations of some kind during the semester. Area lunches occur weekly. Information about other presentations will be sent via email.
