STEM CLUB

Do you have a strong interest in Math? Science? Engineering? or Technology? Do you see yourself in one of these careers in the future? STEM Club may be the club for you!

Students who join the STEM Club will be participating in various activities related to the STEM disciplines. Our focus this year is on K’Nex and visual presentations, in preparation for the Bucks County STEM Design Challenge. Through the club, students will learn to work collaboratively with their peers, brainstorm solutions to problems, create detailed plans, and execute and test designs. Students will also be working with technology and a variety of presentation mediums to share their final products.

The goals for the STEM Club are for students to: 1) Develop and enhance team building and cooperative skills; 2) Facilitate new friendships across different grade levels; 3) Work through the steps of the engineering design process; 4) Reflect and optimize their designs; 5) Communicate their final designs to their peers; 6) Explore their own creativity and have fun!

The STEM Club will be run by Ms. Silks and Mrs. Lockett and is open to 5th and 6th grade students. We will meet each Monday from 3:45-4:45 beginning on October 19th. Due to the limited materials and space available, the STEM Club will be limited to 32 students. Students will need to turn in their completed permission slip to Ms. Silks or Ms. Lockett by Thursday, October 15th. If more than 32 students are interested, participants will be selected through a random lottery.

Please note that each session will end PROMPTLY at 4:45 PM each Monday. Parents will be responsible for transportation. Please be respectful and be on time to pick up your child, or make arrangements with another parent, if necessary. The students must be met at the Front Doors of the school and will not be permitted to leave the building or enter the parking lot without a parent or responsible party in sight.

Please feel free to contact Ms. Silks or Mrs. Lockett with any questions. Complete and return the permission slip on the second page to Mrs. Silks or Ms. Lockett by October 15th. Keep the top page for your records.
