NEWSLETTER 20: FRIDAY 22ND FEBRUARY 2013
FANTASTIC WRITERS! These children will be joining me this week as their teachers are very impressed with their writing. Well done to:
Henry Donald, Ermita Misiukeviciute, Charlie Mai Summers, Abigail
Hunter, Leah Daniel, Tyler Lutzi, Jude Ani-Asiedu and James Hayes.
KICK SMOKING INTO TOUCH! On Wednesday afternoon Year 6 were visited by 2 players, Ryan Lamb and Tom May, from Northampton Saints. They presented the children with prizes for their poster competition which was to highlight the dangers of smoking. Many of the children ‘won’ mini rugby balls for remembering facts about smoking and 3 pupils had goodie bags for producing winning posters. Aaliyah Parsley and Sidra Khaliq were runners up and Nathan Lewis won FIRST PRIZE, which means he will be on the pitch at the Saints game on 2nd March! Well done to all the children who participated and also to parents/carers who have signed pledges to make their homes smoke- free.
As you know each class have a collection pot in which the children put all loose change they have. At the end of every term the money is counted and the class that raises the most money are allowed to wear Mufti on an agreed date. Please take a look at the website www.childrenunited.btck.co.uk to see how well these funds are used and how much a difference it makes to the lives of these children.
SPONSORED READ
Our sponsored read will come to an end today! All pupils took home a sponsor form at the end of January; please return these to the school office, with any donations you have collected, by Friday 1st March. All proceeds are going towards buying new books and other reading resources for the children, along with money
OUR LEARNING TO LEARN SKILL THIS TERM IS: DEVELOPING A SENSE OF SELF-WORTH AND UNDERSTANDING OF SELF AND OTHERS raised from Film Night in October and the Valentine’s Disco. There will also be small prizes for the children who have done the most reading in each pair of classes (which they need to have written on the sponsor form).
If you can’t find the sponsor form, don’t worry. You can collect another one from the school office or just use a piece of paper to record the names of the sponsors, how much they have donated and how much your child has read since we started the sponsored read. All donations will be greatly appreciated and will enhance your child’s reading opportunities at school. Thank you so much for your continued support!
