This unit is about meeting specified needs for information by identifying relevant sources of information and carrying out detailed searches, locating and selecting information, and preparing and supplying the required information in a form appropriate to its purpose

Performance Criteria

To meet the standard, you

1 define accurately specified needs 2 identify appropriate sources for meeting specific information needs 3 record information searches accurately 4 select information which is accurate and relevant to the specified need 5 use working practices which conform to relevant legal and regulatory requirements and agency procedures 6 obtain required information within agreed timescales

Performance Criteria

To meet the standard, you

1 integrate and arrange information from a variety of sources to meet specified needs 2 choose a format and presentation appropriate to the specified purpose 3 acknowledge sources of information when appropriate 4 use working practices which conform to legal and regulatory requirements and agency procedures 5 maintain security and confidentiality of information 6 report promptly and accurately reasons why work is not achievable within specified deadlines 7 supply required information within agreed deadlines
