News and Views with the Principal

Our next “NEA NEWS and VIEWS WITH THE PRINCIPAL” is scheduled for Tuesday, February 26, 2013 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Feedback has been very positive and these nights have been very productive and informative. Building on that momentum, please continue suggesting topics for our future meetings.

Topics for that evening’s event will include: New State of Connecticut School Grading System; CMT’s (CT Mastery Testing) and other standardized and non-standardized testing.

We will finish with the usual open forum for questions and answers. Child care for school- aged children will be provided. We look forward to seeing you. NEA Spaghetti

Supper

Mark your calendars for the NEA Spaghetti Supper being held on Thursday February 28, 2013 from 5:30-7:30pm (please note new time). Watch for pre-sale ticket forms and volunteer forms in your child's school folder. These forms will also be available to download from the NEA school website."

Connecticut Mastery Testing

The mandated Connecticut Mastery Testing (CMT) will be given from March 1 through March 29, 2013. All students in grades 3 to 5 will be tested. A CMT practice test will be given on Wednesday, February 27, 2013.

We ask for your assistance as we encourage our students to do their absolute best. As always, it is important that children come to school well rested and nourished in order to perform optimally. Also, we strive for full attendance during these days, and ask for your assistance in this matter.

Testing begins promptly at 9:15 a.m. each day and will conclude at 12:00 p.m. Students arriving after 9:15 a.m. will not join the testing and will need to take a make-up test. There will be no student dismissals once testing begins. We will test on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays only. We ask that you please schedule appointments/dismissals accordingly. Additional information is posted on the district web page.
