Possible Representation Choices

Mrs. Boulware English 6 and 7

Novel Project You will be creating and representation of a scene of your choice from the mandatory novel for the third nine weeks. The project will consist of two parts. The first part will be the actual representation of the scene. You can find a list of possible ideas for representation below. The choices I have listed may not include one that appeals to you. If that is the case, you may come up with your own way to represent the scene, but you must get it approved by me. The second part of your project will be a detailed explanation of your representation in the format of a short essay. This essay will include three paragraphs. In the first paragraph, I want you to give a brief explanation of the scene that you chose to represent. This paragraph should include your thesis statement which we will talk about in class. The second paragraph should explain why you chose this particular scene to represent. Did it evoke an emotional response in you? Was this particular scene just very interesting to you? Or are there other reasons you chose this scene? Finally, your third paragraph should explain how your piece of art represents the scene. How does it bring the scene to life or represent the scene how you imagined it in your head? I want you to enjoy this project, so be creative! However, be sure that you are clear in what scene you chose, and that your representation fits what you chose. Please remember that this is an individual project and not a group project. Good luck!

Possible representation choices: Collage An original painting/drawing A poem A song with lyrics An instrumental song A dance

Note: If you choose a form of representation that I cannot hold in my hand (i.e. an instrumental song or a dance, etc.) then you must record your creation so that I can view it and grade it according to the rubric.

The rubric for this project is on the back of this sheet. Please keep track of this sheet as you will turn it back into me with your name on the rubric side to be graded. Name______Date______Period______
