Job Purpose  To co-ordinate and deliver targeted Sport programmes within Charnwood’s priority neighbourhoods that engage young people aged 14 – 25 years old.  To support and connect public and voluntary sector youth practitioners, in providing sustainable Sport development opportunities, creating exit routes into informal clubs, access to facilities, training, volunteering, promoting behavioural change in young people, to promote lifelong participation in Sport and Active Recreation.  To deliver the Community Sport Activation Delivery Plan in line with agreed targets, and to achieve the project outcomes to increase 1x30min’s participation in sport specifically targeting young people aged 14-25 years old.  Widen participation and capacity build groups, clubs, projects and young people.  Delivery of an effective and appropriate service to all service users, fairly and without discrimination.

Main Duties and Responsibilities Identify and help to resolve the specific sporting needs of the young 1. person by engaging and assisting them to access relevant and Identified opportunities. Organise plan and deliver sport and physical activities in priority wards in 2. Charnwood to engage and develop disadvantaged young people. This should be in line with the original delivery plan and meet set targets.

1 of 5 Use sport as an engagement tool when delivering youth work and lifelong 3. learning with young people. Organise appropriate training opportunities targeting volunteers and 4. participants to support the sustainability of the programme Help to recruit volunteers, and participants in coach education and other 5. appropriate awards to enable them to assist in the development of innovative neighbourhood sport & active recreation participation projects. 6. Develop new, and maintain, existing relationships with key partners & other youth practitioners, including CBC Sport & Active Recreation Officers, Neighbourhood, Supporting Leicestershire Families, ASB, 20/20, Go Getta, This will involve attending relevant meetings and sharing information. Be responsible for the marketing and promotion of all programmes and 7. activities. Carry out all relevant continuous monitoring, evaluation and recording of 8. programmes, ensuring targets are being met in line with agreed key performance indicators. To work unsociable hours including evenings, weekends and school and 9. bank holidays. Special Factors  The nature of the work may involve the jobholder carrying out work outside of normal working hours.  As this job is designated as a ‘regulated activity’ (i.e., it involves certain activities in relation to children and/or vulnerable adults) or is an exempt position under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act, an enhanced DBS check is essential.

How Essential Desirable assessed Qualifications Hold a minimum of 1 relevant NGB Level 2  App/Doc Coaching Award in a minimum of 1Sport.

Be a qualified Sports Tutor/Coach  App/Doc Educator/Teacher Trained/Youth Worker

Licensed to drive a mini bus  App/Doc Or Demonstrable experience identified within the  App/Int section below.

Experience Can demonstrate relevant experience of  App/Int sports specific coaching, youth work, volunteering or sport development

Experience of working with young people in  App/Int community settings & managing behaviour

Experience of crime diversion/prevention  App/Int activities/programme and youth, sports or volunteering

Proven track record of organising successful  App/Int sport or physical activity programmes for young people

Able to use various social media platforms to  App/Int promote sport and physical activity opportunities

Skills/Knowledge Demonstrate high motivational skills and the  App/Int ability to work effectively with minimal supervision

Familiar with the barriers which prevent  App/Int young people from taking part in sport

Proven knowledge / understanding of  App/Int safeguarding issues

An ability to understand issues facing young  App/Int people and an ability to use this knowledge to work with them.

An ability to handle sensitive issues safely,  App/Int tactfully and diplomatically

Other requirements Ability to travel to multiple venues whilst  App/Int carrying out all duties within the job description.

A commitment to personal development to  App/Int undertake additional training relevant to the purpose of the job.
