Update on spending priorities – update by Angela Wheatcroft and Tim Monk

It was confirmed how PTA money had been used  £1552 on non fiction books for the library  £5000 for projector and screen in the hall which has been used in assemblies  £2500 musical instruments  £350 dance workshop  £588 science day in creativity week  Cost of the pool repairs was less than previously estimated ( since confirmed £16410, much better than £20K forecast)  School trip subsidies

Mrs Wheatcroft proposed that the school would like to make significant upgrades to the outdoor play area of the school, and will make enquiries regarding costs. The PTA agreed they would happy to support this as a new fund raising initiative.

The committee suggested we pay for the ICT equipment as soon as possible ( 12K for the server and 6K for Wi-Fi) as the funds are available, and then we can concentrate on something new.

Treasurers report - Daren Bigmore

A draft of accounts of income and outgoings was handed out The forecast income for 2015 is £30,486 which is an incredible achievement , largely thanks to the 10K which raised £21,661. We agreed to sell the children’s Christmas cards again this year which parents liked and it raised £1K last year.

10k update – Nick Slade

Nick has since confirmed the 10k will take place on Sunday 13th March for 2016 event. Last year was sold out and benefited from taking place prior to the Reading half Marathon The 10K committee are hoping to introduce a children's running race prior to the adult run on Eveldon Road, but issues regarding insurance and marshals still need to be clarified

Fete update – Jo Cammell

The date for 2016 has not been confirmed yet (but Kate Kind had mentioned 20/06 by email) Warminghams banners had not been found, but since the meeting they have been brought back to school. The fete committee need new members and will try to recruit parents form younger year groups.

Possible fundraising and social events – Anna Leyland

 A parent, Andrew Bastawrous, has offered to give a talk in November or December about his work using smart phones to reduce blindness in Africa. The committee were unsure how popular this would be, but have since had further communications with Andrew and decided this would make a very interesting evening and to go ahead with this event.  Sarah Bigmore has offered to organise a disco for parents 2016.  The children's disco is scheduled for Friday 11th December. The regular DJ had not replied to emails so we need to find a replacement ( Andy Ankerson has since volunteered)  Mairead Herlihy has suggested a comedy night  Consider encouraging more parents to do online shopping through the Giving Machine. It is very easy to log on and costs no extra money when shopping from most major shops including Amazon and Tesco.  Lisa Chick has agreed to do our newsletters and we will send one out this term.

We confirmed that the next PTA meeting is scheduled for 26th January 2016
