CHARACTER INTERVIEW

1. Choose 1 character from your book to interview. 2. Create 10 questions to ask the character. Your questions should be thought- provoking and show that you read the book. Do not ask questions like, “what is your favorite color” or other “shallow” questions. 3. Imagine what the character’s answers would be. Your answers should be thoughtful and show a true understanding of the character. 4. Type your interview in 12 point Arial or Times New Roman font, using 1” margins. Make sure to double space. It should be typed in typical interview (i.e. question and answer) format. Your interview should be headed with the title and author of the book, followed by a brief description of the character you intend to interview. 5. Proofread your interview for errors. Do not rely solely on spell check! 6. You may either act out this interview in the classroom or use a video camera to make a mini-movie at home. a. If you choose to make a video, it must be posted on YouTube at least 24 hours before your scheduled presentation so that I can make sure it works. 7. You and your interviewee must wear story-appropriate costumes. 8. Regardless of whether you present your interview live or on camera, it should be very obvious that you have rehearsed the interview before presenting the final product. 9. If you choose to act out your interview in class, the actors can have index cards with their lines on them, but they should NOT read directly from the cards. This is where practicing comes in! 10. If you choose to act out your interview on camera, no one should need cue cards for the script. The video should be PERFECT when it comes to following the script. 11. You must present the teacher with a copy of the interview BEFORE beginning your presentation
