MUSEUM DEDICATION CEREMONY PLANNING: Discussion concerning this topic will occur during our next regular Board meeting in January 2008, when Roy Eiguren will be in attendance. The date will be, hopefully, set then. CENARRUSA FOUNDATION GRANT UPDATE: Adele mentioned that Roy Eiguren, President of the Cenarrusa Foundation, suggested that she apply for a grant. The grant was submitted by Adele and it was granted and awarded to the organization for $2000 to be used to purchase display cabinets for the museum. The award Certificate was passed around for everyone to read. OPEN DISCUSSION: Joanne mentioned that she is on the Board of the Malheur County Cultural Trust and that Adele has submitted a grant. Adele said that she requested over $2000 to be used to construct a logo sign, which will be a hitching post type with a roof for protection. Tal asked, if a sign company has been contacted and what are the plans? Joanne said that she made a blueprint of the sign. No sign company has been contacted. It can be painted or a routed- type on wood can be done. Adele Mentioned that she had asked Pat Matteri if she would be interested. Pat said no, as she does not have the proper equipment in order to do a routed-type sign; however, Pat did make suggestions on the construction possibilities. Tal asked about the regulations on putting up a sign. Adele will call Inspections, Inc. and ask general regulation questions regarding signs within the City Limits and she will also contact ODOT regarding the possibility of placing "Museum" signs on the highway. Bob Skinner has requested that the School District transfer the Oral history tapes to the Museum, where they would be better used by the community. They agreed but Bob suggested that we vote on the acceptance. Bob made a motion to accept the tapes, and seconded by Delores. It was voted upon and motion passed unanimously. Adele mentioned that she had asked Vern Piel about the possibility of using his Market to house another second- hand store. He said that he had no insurance to cover that. Mitzi and Jimmy Elordi said the Tavern is no longer in operational order, so that is not an option, as the roof and flooring are in very bad disrepair. Everyone agreed that the second-hand store was a lucrative fundraiser. Jennifer Trautman suggested that we contact Terry Fuhriman to see if it would be possible to extend the organization's insurance over to Piel's store. Adele will check on that possibility. DOOR PRIZES: Names were drawn for door prizes. Winners were Joanne, Forest, Martha, Delores, Tal, Jennifer, Wyatt, Colleen. Thank you Bob Shupert and Adele for the donated prizes.
