Part 1: News clipping Due date: 5 September (Tue)  Choose ONE aspects from the list provided. Environment / Nature Economy Education Science and Technology Health Teen problems Politics Entertainment 1. Collect newspaper / magazine articles for the aspects chosen during the summer holiday. At least 3 piece of articles of the chosen aspects should be collected. 2. F ind 5 unfamiliar words / expressions from each article and underline them. Look up the meaning in a dictionary and make a sentence using each unfamiliar word / expression. 3. Write ONE short article (about 200 words) summarizing and giving your opinions on the newspaper / magazine articles of the chosen aspect. You can include the following details in your article:  Why have you chosen these articles? Do they share something similar?  What is/are the issue(s) mentioned in all the materials collected for the aspect chosen?  What has happened?  If there is more than one material on the same issue, compare the different descriptions given in the materials and discuss which description is better and why.  What do you think about the issue(s)?  Finish your work in a new Geography exercise book. Name it ‘English Supplementary Writing’. Please follow the following format:

Part 2 : Preparation for SBA Part A: Individual Presentation: Print, non-fiction  Assessment dates will be released after the new school year begins Part A (Reading & Viewing Programme: Print/ Non-fiction) You are required to give an individual presentation on your chosen text (about 3-5 minutes). The text should be a print non-fiction (e.g. biography, autobiography, self-help titles, books about geography/ history, cook book etc.) The text that you choose should be in ENGLISH.  Assessment task: You have to promote a book to your schoolmates. You many include the following in your presentation:  Title and author of the book  A summary of the book  Things you like about the book  Things you have learnt from the book  Reason why you are recommending the book  Talk about the aspect of the book that can be improved  Mention anything else you think is important about the book Try to be persuasive and encourage your schoolmates to read the book.
