This lesson described repentance as "turning around and going in a different direction."
Repentance is that complete change of heart and mind that leaves pornography distasteful to our souls, and makes us hunger and thirst after righteousness.
Consider this thought from God's Word:
30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree. 31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. Acts 5:30-31
Notice forgiveness follows repentance in the above passage. If God has granted you to turn away from your sin, then He has also forgiven you, for repentance and forgiveness go hand in hand.
Our prayer for you is that God has granted you repentance and that you are now enjoying His forgiveness of sins! Lesson 7 material (A New Direction): Page 2 of 2
Sample 1:
Dear
You mention “I think there has been something missing in my sorrow. In the past I have experienced the tears, and I have proclaimed vows of repentance. I have believed that my sorrow was genuine, but the fact that I have indulged in the sin since then, is leading me to question whether I truly had a Godly sorrow . . . .”
As we will study throughout this course – it is a combination of Godly repentance and also filling our "purified" hearts with God (drinking from the pure fountain daily/hourly) so that Satan can’t come back in. When we allow God to put it all together, we can be free indeed!
So here are a couple thoughts that can help us move forward: first, God hears our prayers – and we can sincerely pray to him for this Godly sorrow. It is different with everyone – it does not have to mean that an individual needs to be a basket case of tears. For some –the emptiness and recognition that we have fallen so short of God’s glory is their true repentance. Others do go through the emotions. One thing is certain – when you sincerely pray that God will let you see your true state before him – and humble yourself before Him . . . he will grant you the power to rise in a newness to Him. That is the joy and promise of the Gospel of God. Amen!
Consider this scripture passage: 10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. 11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. 12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. 13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. Luke 18:10-14
And by the way . . . that bush along your driveway was an eyesore anyway. J (just kidding . . . but I did get a good laugh when I read about your daughter hitting it with the car – even though I am sure it wasn’t funny at the time . . . the mental picture was humorous! My kids are under age 5 . . . and I’m sure we’ll have some interesting times also as they grow up.)
